You might have seen a story about how the first female Vice President in America, Kamala Harris, failed the Bar Exam.
It’s one of those things that’s technically true but can be hugely deceptive when not put into context. Harris did fail the Bar, right before she passed it on her second try. And there’s nothing at all unusual about that.
The exam varies from state to state, and her state of California is among the most notoriously difficult in the entire country. In many years, less than half of all applicants pass that test at all, much less on their first try.
And these aren’t people off the street. These are folks who have been studying the law for years already.
All that to say, this is one tough test, as these anonymous confessions will…attest.
10. Pray to god
As a fellow atheist, I too have found myself bargaining with no one in particular.
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
8. “I will be so embarrassed.”
That embarrassment doesn’t have to last forever.
7. May the 4th be with you
Test anxiety is real and it can kill off your thinky parts quick.
6. Just the worst
I guess I’d be pretty grumpy too.
5. I just don’t know
Sometimes it’s not so much the test, but the idea of the test.
4. A taxing situation
I wonder how many different categories are covered…
The weight of the expectations of others can be unbearable.
Seriously, it is way hard.
1. First time’s the charm!
Of course, some do get lucky!
Best of luck, law students!
